I Was Promised Snow

I love snow.  Winter is my favourite season, I look forward to it all year. When it snows, my excitement rivals that of a young child on Christmas morning. Nay, it surpasses that little rascal.  When snow melts, I get sad. So you can understand how disappointed I am with winter this year.  Winter has really let me down with its 40+F nights and 60+F days. It's unacceptable. I demand my fair share of winter.  To that end, I'm just going to ignore the gloomy warm sunny days we've been having and pretend that I've busted out my favourite red wool jacket, tied a colourful scarf around my neck and stepped out into the frosty air to toss a snow ball or two for the dogs to chase. Enjoy these pictures I found of previous winters, which were by far superior.

Winter 2008: Atlanta, GA. Emmy was an only pup back then.

Winter 2008: This was taken on our street in Atlanta. Look Emmy's flying!

Winter 2011: A bench we moved to the back of our property. Used primarily for quiet contemplation.

This snow tastes cold!

  1. I'm enjoying your photos of snow very much.. and the fact that they are only photos and I don't have to deal with the snow :). But I do hope you get at least one snowy weekend this year!

  2. Snow???? We've had very little too! We're getting so much rain this year. Today it's going up to 8 C but is suppose to turn to snow tonight and tomorrow. Your love of snow must be the Canadian in you ... don't ever lose that eh???! Love you Jessie! Say hi to Ben!

    1. Ben says hi back! He loved your hot 'n sour soup recipe that I got off Julia's site. I'm so glad she published that post. It'll definitely be a staple from now on.

  3. Oh dearie, dearie, dearie me. Jessica, you're more than welcome to come to Quebec and take some of this winter business back home with you. It's been consistently -20 for a while... so cold that I can't even walk the dog with both of us wearing coats and bundled up.

That, and we have 3 feet of snow (which has packed down a little in the meantime). Last night it went up to 0 for the first time in weeks, and it was so slippery that Jeff passed 8 people in ditches on his way home from work, and added a little more "character" to the old Camry in the form of scratches from sliding into snowbanks ;)

Hm, no thank you. My favourite season is spring and fall and especially what's in between. Anything but winter...

Hope that helps/cures your longing for winter! lol

    1. Be careful, I might take you up on that offer! Your little piece of mountain sounds divine! Well, except for the driving to work part, that just sounds dangerous. Tell Jeff I said to stay safe on those roads.
